Uninstalling GRUB (Windows 7)

Removing the GRUB boot loader can be quite tricky. Apparently, there are several possibilities, so I will relay my experiences with the process here.

The best way seems to be the use of a Windows 7 DVD.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD.
Select Language, Timezone, and Keyboard.
Select Repair your computer.
Select Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows.
Select Command Prompt.

After using the command bootsect /nt60 c: GRUB was still present.

The command bootrec.exe /fixmbr rendered my PC un-bootable.

Then I used the Option Startup Repair from the System Recovery Options. It restarted my PC once (I removed the Windows 7 DVD prior to that restart) and asked for my User Password. After the second restart, my PC loaded Windows normally.

I thought the easiest way was to reinstall windows since it overwrites the bootsector on (kind of strange) principle
